Contract Positions Filled
I hope that everyone is enjoying the start of summer and finding ways to stay cool. Since the last update, there is more exciting news to share. The club was notified that our application for another Seniors Community Grant was approved which means more programs and activities related to healthy aging can be offered at the club along with funds for a Workshop Coordinator to develop and manage those activities. This is in addition to the recent designation as a Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC) which includes program development and a Program Coordinator as outlined in our previous news update.
At the FFSC Board meeting on July 2, the Board approved the following. The Program Coordination position is going to be filled by Cheryl Dyer. Cheryl resigned from the Board in order to submit an application for the position. This will be a big loss for the Board but a significant step forward for the club in doing the very best job in implementing the SALC successfully and most efficiently. The Workshop Coordinator position is going to be filled by Barbara Jones who will work for the most part remotely. Her previous club positions as Workshop Coordinator will ensure that the Seniors Community Grant will be implemented efficiently and skillfully and our many community partners will be delighted that Barb will once again work with them when she is developing our Healthy Aging Workshops and related activities. Having the Program Coordinator working onsite permitted the Board to consider the Workshop Coordinator working remotely for the most part. This will be an exciting new experience and will benefit the club immensely. Both positions will commence the week of July 6. The Workshop Coordinator's position is until the end of March 2027. The Program Coordinator's hours will be onsite and will develop more firmly over the summer, but for the most part, Cheryl will be in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The hours will be confirmed in a later update. Cheryl's volunteer work over the past eight years with the club and her long-time residency in Fenelon Falls will enable her to step into the position with great knowledge and understanding of both the club and the community. The club extends a very warm welcome to both Cheryl and Barb as they each fulfill their position!
