Annual General Meeting Summary

On May 29th, our Annual General Meeting was held and the following is a summary of the meeting. In addition to the Board members present, 28 club members/guests attended the meeting. An invitation had been sent to Jamie Schmale, Laurie Scott and Mike Perry to attend the AGM. However, none were available to attend but Mike Perry sent a letter in recognition of the organization and his history with the club. A review of the FFSC website was presented and included a demonstration of navigating the website including how club membership can be renewed or applied for. Each newsletter that is sent to members via email is also posted to the website, as well as new activities and events. Access to our Facebook page is available through the website. Highlighting this year were the 4 Healthy Aging Workshops and related activities that were held and organized, led by the project coordinator, Barbara Jones, and made possible with the Ontario Seniors Community Grant the club received. Various club reports were presented and those in attendance were able to ask questions and make suggestions which resulted in positive, interactive discussions. Overall, the club is in a better financial position this year due to increased participation in events and activities, increase in rentals, participation in the Lindsay OLG Bingo, other fundraising endeavors and due to a large anonymous donation and a large bequeathment from a longtime club member, Jean Law. A strong team effort has resulted in many positive outcomes. Details related to these outcomes and more will be in the recorded minutes of the meeting. The Board members for the upcoming year were nominated and approved as follows: Rosemary McColeman, Cheryl Dyer, Barb Gillies, Deb Good, Lori Boehm, Noreen Moore, Bonnie Murray, Fred Walker and Bruce McKague, Kathy Mark and Susan Wood. Two vacant Board positions remain and if anyone is interested in filling either of the positions, please contact the club. Recognition and sincere thanks were extended to the retiring Board members: Joan Cohen, Diane Gray and Judy Poulin. Joan Cohen is going to continue to manage the club rentals which is very much appreciated. At the Board meeting immediately following the Annual General Meeting, the following executive positions were approved: President – Rosemary McColeman, 1st Vice President – Cheryl Dyer, 2nd Vice President Fred Walker, Recording Secretary – Kathy Mark and Treasurer – Barb Gillies. With the support of the membership, and the work of the Board of Directors, the club looks forward to continuing in a positive direction in the upcoming year. Thank you to all who give of their time and talents for the success of the club.
